One issue with FastCGI is that out of the box it may prove problematic. It needs some configuration, and many new server administrators find it difficult to find solutions.

A very common error is mod_fcgid: HTTP request length exceeds MaxRequestLen. The solution is simple.

In order to change the default MaxRequestLen value for mod_fcgid you have to follow the steps below:

  1. Login to WHM
  2. Go to Service Configuration -> Apache Configuration
  3. Select Include Editor
  4. At PreVirtualHost Include select “All Versions”
  5. At the text field write (you can change the timeout value with anything that suits your needs)
    <IfModule mod_fcgid.c>
    FcgidMaxRequestLen 1073741824
    </IfModule>
  6. Save
  7. Restart Apache from Restart Services menu
